Making plans, making progress

Today we met and found out that 2 members of our team, Danielle & Nancy, were issued iPads to get their feet wet in new apps. The rest of the team tried their best to contain their envy!

Rosemary & Aurora from Shelyn are both making strides: Aurora worked on a reading program with her 4th graders, and Rosemary designed her own flashcard set to use with her 5th graders. Skip shared tips on using Quizlet to create those flashcard sets online, and demonstrated how to download them to student iPods. (See an example of Skip's online flashcards here.) Students may also use the online version of the flashcards, which also allows students to take mock tests.

Melvin successfully recorded reading samples from his 6th graders and imported them into his iTunes program, making them easy to share with parents at conferences.

We planned on meeting the next day for an all-day session.

  1. Inquiry Question:

How can we use iPods to improve, motivate and support student learning in the classroom?

I truly enjoyed today's CoP meeting, and I thank all of you for being a part of that. I feel we set achievable goals, and have an inquiry questions that will guide our learning.

Next meeting is at Jellick on 10/26
