CoP wrap-up: 6.13.11

CoP reflections: in our reflection group, we found that it caused many of us to focus on what the students can do, rather than what they can't, especially with autistic/rsp students. There's an excitement that teachers feel in learning again, and are willing to continue their growth and training.

iPod use in 4th: weekly vocabulary: definitions & images used on Quizlet; set up weekly; now available all year long (set up once for next year). Books on tape: stories from reading texts, social studies & science books read aloud, music tying in to reading/soc stud; videos for science (Bill Nye, now thru iTunes) & reading/soc stud; surveys completed on PollEverywhere; many math apps for practice (basic facts, fractions); on-iPod quizzing thru QuickieQ, including scoring; Instant research thru Google; student vs student with Multiplication & Labyrinth; typing 1st drafts of stories & letters with Print n Share.

We also discussed low-cost ways to enhance our CoPs in the near future. See image.
